Losing eye sight and no one can tell me why

I have been to 5 doctors. 2 Opthamologists, 1 neuro-opthamologist, 1 retinal specialist, and an eye surgeon. None of them have found anything wrong with my eye, retina, or optic nerve. I have had an MRI which showed nothing, and done a thyroid test, and was cleared of having a thyroid disease. My vision is blurred, my eye gets very red on and off, and most of the time it feels like there is sand in my eye. When I have a long day, my eye begins to ache and sometimes sting. I have developed a dry patch under my eye and it is only the right eye I have a problem with. The blurred vision fluctuates and sometimes I have double-vision. I was diagonosed with astigmatism in my right eye, however corrective lenses did not correct my vision. I am afraid if I do not figure out what is causing this problem, I might lose my vision. Please help if you might have an idea of what is going on!

  • The astigmatism is probably the cause of the blurred and double vision, but the dry patch and reddness may have something to do with tear production.

  • I am not a doctor & do not know the symptoms but sounds like it COULD be Sjogrens Syndrome. The only way that they can test for sure is a biopsy of the lip or something like that (I do not know much about it). Just an idea. Doesn't mean that is what you have though.

  • Sounds like Sjogrens Syndrome to me as well. I was diagnosed with it more than 10 years ago. It can be diagnosed by a rheumatologist with a simple blood test. It's fairly rare, but is actually an autoimmune disease. My mother and I both have it, however there has been no "conclusive" genetic link, according to my Dr. Good Luck.

  • It seems like you may have what I just had. I had an eye ulcer but it was very tiny. I had tearing, redness of my eye, felt like there was an object inside right under the eyelid, bright lights hurt it as it got worst. That's just my own opinion based off my experiences.
