Can anyone help me out and lead me in the right direction? Doctors just keep saying...... it will get better and it doesn't. This started as a moderate stomach ache.

Symptoms;
pain that radiates RLQ upon any type of pressure being placed upon the area (bending of mid section). Pain seems to pinpoint to appendix area. Lower back hurts when standing upright. Intestines feel like they are getting squeezed when bending over. Periods of lots of gas. Feel hungry shortly after large meals. No fever, no vomiting, no headache, no nausea. Bowels and bladder work fine. Urine is dark and smells like ammonia, even with lots of water intake. Blood work, urine test and CT scan suggest it is not appendix, however scan did show ever so slightly inflamed appendix.

About me. Male. 22 years of age. Don't smoke or drink. I work on cars and boats, often times in strange positions that put stress on my lower abdomen and back.

I've been couch bound for 4 days now and its not getting any better or worse. As soon as I bend my mid section the pain returns.

  • Dark urine, especially smelling of ammonia is usually indicative of a fairly severe kidney problem. Please consider a kidney function test for creatnine clearance, BUN, GFR, etc. Untreated and undiagnosed there is a high potential for renal failure.

I had the same thing and even tho it was only a little inflammed they got me in OR right away. all my blood work and everything else was totally fine, I just had bad pain in the area, and the CT showed it was slightly inflammed, I got taken to OR right away and had it out, and I felt/feel totally fine. (other than some other stuff not related.)

  • An update. I saw my primary care doc again and he sent me to a surgeon. Surgeon looked at CT scan and did an extensive physical exam. I started feeling better the day before I went to see the surgeon. After looking at the CT scan, surgeon said that it looks like something may have got caught in my appendix, then got ejected (we will never know if this true or not). The swelling (at its worst) was only minor and it appeared be healing. He said he would not have removed the appendix the night I went into the ER, nor would he today. On his advice, I continued to take aleve and returned for a light day of work yesterday. I am doing a lot better, but I'm also avoiding more then a couple seconds of bending over at a time. I'm still feeling light pain/aching on the lower right side as of today. It not throbbing or terrible, but it is still there. I'm still very much worried about it returning when I start back to work full time on Monday.
