I'm 19 years old and I've been having persistent and worsening symptoms for 4 months and still left un diagnosed by my doctor. I feel it's usless going back there as they keep giving me painkillers that are not working.

I keep getting severe headaches ALL on the left side, and at the back of my head on the right side which are pretty much disabling when I have them as I am un able to do anything at that time. I feel a lot of pressure behind my eyes and in my head, I get pain in my cheeks, behind my nose, disorientation and vertigo, which at the time makes me feel like I'm going to pass out because the room is spinning. Sharp chest pains which run up in to my neck and sometimes my ear. Sometimes have difficulty breathing, and my chest feels tight. I get the occasional ear ache, too, which often feels linked to the other symptoms.

Those symptoms have been occurring for 4 months. The doctors THINK it's sinus but can't spot any signs of it after examination. Aparrently, after going in to the hospital yesterday to complain about facial pains, my tounge and throat swelling they said the same thing, but, they said there is no way of finding out if it is sinus. They're either talking out of their butts or my doctor wasn't looking for anything when examining me for it.

Recently, adding on the above listed symptoms, my tongue has swollen up on the right side, my lip has slightly swollen also on the right side and I keep getting tingling, like a pins and needles sensation in both my lips and tongue. The pins and needles sensation made it's self known around 5 days before the swelling appeared. On top of that; my neck, and lymph glands in my neck, swell up when ever they feel like it, unusual bursts of hyperactivness, and my sleep is getting disturbed by which I mean I'm getting woke up feeling unusually disorientated; not knowing where I am or even what has just happened.

I believe I may have a problem with my nervous system but I can't be sure. These symptoms have been around for 2 going on 3 weeks, the symptoms above that have been around for 4 months approx.

Can anyone please help or give advice?

  • Are you a cell phone/cordless phone user or are you being exposed to wi-fi? Microwave Sickness - Electrical Sensitivity & Hypersensitivity: http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/related-conditions/electrical-sensitivity-&-hypersensitivity/ You might want to read Sarah Dacre's story, too: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=450995&in_page_id=1879 Headaches, tingling, ringing in the ears - all very common with electrosensitivities. It's basically an allergy to electromagnetic fields.I did use a mobile (cell) phone up until yesterday as I broke it from loosing my temper. So yes I am exposed to wi-fi; PC, MP3 players with headphones, broad band and I've got a TV switched on 24/7 because it doesn't switch back on, and my flat mate insists it stays on at all times! I sleep in the livingroom (where the TV is) as it's where I feel more comfortable. I do get tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and the hair loss is very familiar; everyone complains that they find my hair stuck to them, or that they keep finding them everywhere. I could firmly grip a section of hair, run my hand downwards on it and end up with a hand full of loose hair. I don't have any bald spots though. With you mentioning the above, I don't know if electric cookers would count, but I seem to feel really off when that's switched on, especially the oven! Thanks much for your input, it's very much appreciated! :) It would be worth mentioning to my Doctor.

  • Are you currently taking any medications?DOMI'm being treated for depression which I feel is very unfair. Like any person, I do get stressed and upset at times. But since I've become ill, I've been feeling a ***l of a lot more stressed, nervous, and even aggressive which is why I feel the treatment is un-fair, and not only that the meds don't work. I got given 250mg Amoxicillin anti-biotics from the hospital yesterday as I went there to complain about my symptoms. They said they think I have sinisus, which involving my other symptoms, in my view, is ruled out to the cause of them. The anti-biotics were for the redness in the my throat. Thanks for your in-put :)

  • You might have a couple of things. Did you get a scan of your brain yet? You kind of need it because it sounds like more than sinus. Are you on birth control pills? Do you engage in oral sex (for your new lip/throat condition). Could you have herpes on your lips and maybe something else in your throat? I think it might be two unrelated issues.

I want a CT scan and I'm gonna try get refered on to nuerology today. I have my doctors appointment in an hour about the swelling in my mouth so I'm gonna try get a referal then as I don't think they would personally send me for a CT scan. Besides, if I have a problem with my nervous system, they have no reason to refuse a referal to neurology.Herpes is highly possible from sleeping with someone with it, who of course didn't tell me till afterwards. He did say he remembers telling me about a year before but I don't recall it. That was 9 months ago and I have never had an outbreak of sores with in that period of time. Thanks :)

  • If your swelling doesn't turn out to be an infection have a look here: www.haea.org

Thanks for your in-put :) Please post which antidepressant med you were prescribed, for how long, and if you are still taking it. Did your symptoms develop AFTER taking this med? THIS IS IMPORTANT AS SOME OF YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE SIGNS OF A POSSIBLE SERIOUS SIDE EFFECT TO MEDS. Also, are you taking any birth control pills?I cannot stress enough that doctors don't look at this:confused:! So please just post the name and I'll look it up for you. I hate docs that prescribe antibiotics because they have no other idea what is causing something! This is irresponsible IMO, because if it is NOT a bacterial infection you have just compromised your immune system for nothing... Are your symptoms improving with the antibiotic? DOM

DOMI had a 4 weeks supply of anti-depressants which I only took for around 4 days because I thought it's a waste of time and in the long run won't do my body any good. The tablets are 10mg Amitriptyline to be taken once or twice at night time. I only took one though. These symptoms came on atleast 1-2 weeks AFTER I stopped taking them. Doc thinks it's a side effect, too, but aswell as small white lumps appearing underneath my tongue, 1 of them has been there for about 10 months to a year and grew a little bigger since the swelling of the rest of my tongue. Today appeared a tiny patch of whiteness inside my tongue visable on the surface near these lumps. I am on no birth control pills, and I would never consider taking them either. I've only taken the anti-biotic for 2 1/2 days and no improvment and I would expect so for atleast another couples of days. Docs are irrisponsible, and it's an easy way to get a pay check without doing much work. I will admit to the doctor I see as being a good doctor, but it's baffling him to what the cause of these symptoms are. Other docs in the surgery, other than him, keep sending me home saying there's nothing wrong like today for example. The doc I saw today said the swelling on the sides of my tongue and the white lumps on the bottom of my tongue (even the one that has been there going on a year) is absolutly normal but didn't say what it was!?

  • I really do believe your symptoms are related to chronic exposure to electromagnetic fields. You really do need to reduce your exposure. I'm actually happy you broke your cell phone. If you do have electrosensitivities, all of these exposures will prevent your body from repairing itself. Sarah Dacre has sensitivities to wi-fi and cell phone towers. The problem is that once you have developed electrosensitivities, any exposure - even those from things that never were a problem - TVs, power lines, the car's engine - can trigger symptoms. My tongue is always coated white. If you expose me to EMF/RF, the coating gets much thicker. Cultures always come back normal though, so it's possible these fields are causing an overgrowth of normal bacteria or yeasts. Either that or it is triggering Lyme, which I also have. Here's Sarah Dacre's story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=450995&in_page_id=1879 You can mention this to your doctor, but unless you live in Sweden, he will likely discount your concerns. Be persistent, and don't allow this doctor to discount your concerns. If possible, try turning everything off for a good week to see if there is any change in your symptoms. My opinion would be, you think you have it, so you think everyone else has it, too, so I can't exactly pay attention to what you're saying because; I looked at your posts, 90% of them are asking people if they have this electromagnetic field thingie. I think I could give you a diagnosis of paranoia ha ha.
