For the last 5 months I have been feeling lightheaded for hours on end. I have been to several Drs. and been tested for diabetes, glucose intolerance, and now the newest Dr. thinks that perhaps I may have Vertigo. I am reaching a "scared" point. Today, after having an ear treatment 2 days ago (which was suppose to make me feel better), I am feeling as lightheaded as ever. Along with the lightheadedness I tend to get excruciating migraines, forget simple everyday terms, and sometimes have blurred vision. The lightheadedness is what scares me the most. Sometimes it feels as though my brain is swollen, meaning that I am very aware of my brain inside my skull. (not the best description I know, but that's what it feels like) It has been going on for such a long period of time. I had a CAT scan, to no avail and am due to get an MRI at the end of the week.
If anyone has any clue, please let me know.
Thank you.

  • I have had exactly the same symptoms for about 2 and a half years. All the tests prove nothing is wrong. After going through MRI's, neurologists, ENT's, postureography, gopingt o dizziness and balance clinics, after having EKGs, - you name it - all the doctors and all the tests. I exhausted all people I know in ROchester, NY. I finally got on a plane and went down to Johns-Hopkins. I found a Dr. who thnks that my symptoms (same as yours, but withsomewhat fewer headaches) are classic "atypical" migraine. Not everyone who gets migraines gets only hedaches. Apparently many who get migraines may not get headaches, or get few of them, but will suffer other symptoms. Lightheadedness, not true vertigo, are one o fhte symptoms. After 2.5 years of no one treating me at all, I am now starting out on a plan to try various standard migraine meds to see if one will work for me.Just a suggestion, but you might want to try finding a migraine specialist.Good luck

  • I have the same issues and I have a neuro telling me it is Migraine as well. We are looking at all the med options. To start, he put me on 400mg Magnesium Oxide (OTC Suppliment) and it is helping, but you need to give it 12 weeks. This is a common suppliment for migraineurs. Good luck.
