i'm a 34 year old male. About 20 years ago things started to go wrong. I was always a keen sportsman, but when i hit 21 my lower legs began to ache during intense exercise (a heavy, weary ache). i've had countless scans and even a fasciotomy, but no improvement. I can still run, but after a mile or so the ache develops (and worse in hot weather) Then, a few years later the same thing happened in my arms. I now find it tough to swim (especially in warm water). I have also got speech problems which have also got worse in last 20 years. it feels like I have breathing problems, and insufficient air to talk. Mornings are worst and sometimes its a real effort to talk. other times i am fine.

Recently after very intense exercise, i feel like i'm having a heart attack. my chest burns. sometimes the pain lingers for a day or 2.

Bizarrly, i can still do exercise. i swim 3 or 4 times a week , and run twice a week, often for a short time up steep hills, and usually through some discomfort. I can also skip over 100 times eaisly, and consider myself above average fitness for a 34 year old, despite my complaints.

other symptons: now and again i get a popping sensation in my chest. if i twist my body from side to side, i get this wheezing feeling. i also feel dizzy and light headed sometimes.

what is wrong with me???????

  • Hmmmmm this concerns me, it is possible that u have angina, u need to go for EEG & treadmill test, but firstly if i was u id cut out the excerise until u know what is happening, u could be pushing urself towards a heart attack. The heavy, weary ache in ur limbs could be caused by oxygen starvation, this would also explain dizziness & feeling like ur puffed & short of breath. You really need to take it easy & get urself off to docs or ER, ur body is telling u something, its time to listen to it. Best Wishes :)
