Lateral foot pain

Im 38 and im a 3 X a week 30 minute runner and occasionally do plyometrics. I started having lateral foot pain. Im searching for a proper diagnosis for my lateral foot pain. I really think its likely a stress fracture but oddly enough i can run on my foot without pain? Now if i jump and land hard, it does bother me. My foot usually bothers me at the end of the day and mostly when i take my shoes off!! Compression of the metatarsal heads hurts quite a bit but i dont have any radiating pain(just sharp pain b/w the digits) like with a Mortons Neuroma. Another possibility could be a recurrent cuboid subluxation?
I havent seen an MD about it yet but it is just not getting any better. I quit running for 1 month and continued walking(without pain) and then added very slow jogging about a month ago. My foot symptoms persist and i never really noticed an improvement when i stopped running. Like i said, oddly enough still no pain while running. If anyone has had something similar, please let me know. It has now been going on over 2 and a half months THANKS PAUL
