large taste buds and white on back of tongue

What is this?? My dr. gave me antibiotics for a bacterial infection and the throat pain whent away, but the bumps in the back of my tongue got bigger and there is this nasty white stuff growing out of the back of my tongue... some kind of infection i presume.... :( ... eeeeiiiioooowwww.... What causes this.? Is it stress? Smoking? pregnancy related? what can cause this?

  • thats somewhat normal, you just need to use a toothbrush or tougne cleaner and brush back there

  • check for fungal infection. Nystatin might clear it up

  • If it's a fungal infection then antibiotics won't solve it. You might actually have gotten a fungal infection from the antibiotics b/c it kills off bacteria and can promote fungal growth. If you're concerned, ask a dentist about oral thrush and maybe get an HIV test.

  • Hi I have HPV, latly Ive also noticed those large taste buds at the back of my tongue... are they related? My doctor hasnt mentioned anything about them but Im a bit concerned. Thanks
