My twin daughters were born at 23 weeks and 5 days, yes 23w 5d!. They just turned 2 in May. Both my girls have different severities of Cerebral Palsy. My daughter, Joy has fluctuated in weight bewtween 14-15 pounds for just over a year now. She weighs no more than 15 lbs and no less than 14 pounds at every doctors appointment. She has been on a Pediasure Plus diet for almost 6 months and still nothing. She doesn't eat solid foods, only purees and eats 4oz every 3-4 hours. She eats purees at least 2 times a day. Everything is high calorie for her. But still no weight gain. Joy is very immobile due to the severity of CP, so she doesn't move around much, so we know that is not the cause of her lack of wieght gain.
Her and her sister, Faith recently had blood work done and now Faith is showing a lack of nutritional supply. She eats just about anything and is also on Pediasure Plus. She drinks 5oz every 3-4 hours and has 3 meals a day. She has begun to flat line on her growth chart as well. She has been stuck at 19pounds for a few months now. Unlike Joy, Faith is very active. She is not walking yet but is on the floor crawling all day long.
I'm beginning to wonder if they both have some type of Malabsortion Syndrome or Disease. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and if they have what kind of testing was done to find out what exactly the issue is.
Thank you for your time.
