hi, im a 21 yo male. I had an ultra sound for the abdomen and the doc said there is small mass somewhere that might be blocking some hormones for the thickness of the blood sumthin like that. She said it cud be a benign tumor..

I was so shocked because i never complained from abdominal pain they had it checked ONLY because my hemoglobin was a little bit higher than normal!in a blood test i had cuz i was feeling off-balance!

Theyre gonna have me do a CAT scan for the abdomen to see the mass more clearly!

how threatinging is it to have a tumor in a kidney ? and is there any treatment for that? i didnt ask them because i was in shock

  • Hi rmk, I'm sorry this is happening and also I don't know the answer to your question. Why I'm replying to you is, Please don't jump to worse case senario. Wait until you know what you are truely dealing with or you are going to put yourself through weeks of ***l worrying about something that you may not have. This mass could well be benign, therefore easier treated or removed if the case need be. Why not contact your Doctor again and talk to her, explain your fears, ask her anything you want to know. You could find-out all sorts of information & none of it actually relevant to your case. Best wishes hun, I hope all works out well for you :) let us know.

  • Your increased red blood cell count is called polycythemia or erythrocytosis. If your kidney is making too much erythropoietin, that would cause your blood count to be up.I can't find anything that says it"s a malignancy that causes it,just''kidney disease,''which you haven't yet been shown to have.Talk to the doctor about your concerns. It might be a simple cyst.
