Three days before Christmas I went to my dentist suspecting an abscessed tooth. I was correct and he prescribed antibiotics. 24 hours later I was in agony and my jaw was so swollen it actually pushed a crown out of my mouth. My dentist sent me to the ER for an antibiotic shot and pain meds. The ER gave me yet another antibiotic. The infection never seemed to go away, but on 1/25 I had a root canal. Two weeks later I had a temp crown put on. I told the dentist then that I strongly felt the infection was still there. Sure enough 3 days later the infection felt like an explosion in my jaw. Back to the dentist - another antibiotic. Next to the ER for more pain meds. Percocet did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Next to the family doctor who changed the antibiotic again. 10 days later and the infection is still there. I've had a CT scan of my head and jaw and am waiting on the results. I was a disaster worker at Ground Zero after 9/11 and have had numerous abscessed teeth and broken teeth since returning. Also, I had an encapsulated sinus infection that required surgery. The infection was the size of a lemon. I had been on antibiotics for close to 6 months w/ no results for that. Any idea of what to do or what could be going on? All my dentist says is that it's probably from all that stuff I breathed in NY.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
