I am 14 years old and about a month ago my jaw began clicking. It started off with pain and clicking, having to really stretch my mouth to relieve the pain by making it click so the pain would subside. The pain then faded within a few days and I was left with clicking in the left side of my jaw. I'm going to visit the dentist, but can anybody tell me what's wrong NOW.....will this clicking ever go away?? :(

  • It could be Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). Your dentist may need to order x-rays. Have you worn braces by any chance?

  • I have had jaw clicking for many years and found out that it is because of misalignment of the jaw bones. This can lead to TMJ if you don't take care of it. I would reccomend seeing an orthodontist because mine has improved greatly over the last 2 years with braces. Sometimes it does require surgery, but normally not at your age. You may grow out of it, but it is a great idea to start watching it now. There may be something that will help you and keep you from having TMJ when you are older. Good Luck and God Speed:)
