About a year and a half ago I started getting the odd bump which was really itchy, it looked exactly like a nettle sting (white) but was really itchy like a insect bite.

I didn't go to the doctors because I just thought I was getting bitten by something but they started to get worse and I got loads under my hair which itched like crazy. They only came up on my face, head, arms and chest.

They just got worse and were scarring where I had scratched them. I went to the doctors and they said they were bed bugs so I called a specialist out and he said that I didn't have bed bugs or dust mites and it might be an allergic recation to something.

I went back and saw a different doctor and she said that is might be scabies so gave me two lots of cream to treat that but also gave me some antihistamine tablets in case it was something else in my system. I used the cream which didn't seem to help but the tablets seem to calm it down a bit but once they ran out they just came back.

So I went back and this time saw a locum on his first day, it was clear that he had no idea what it was and because I said the antihistamine helped, he gave me a months worth of that. I used that and it helped but again, once they ran out they just came back.

I'm starting to lose the will to live with this, I can't stay on antihistamine tablets for the rest of my life and they'll stop working eventually anyway.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what this might be????

  • I am having a similar if not the same problem. There are many stresses in my life at present and mine could simply be stress related or it could be an allergy or a combination thereof. Allergies do tend to act up more so when we are stressed. You say you get some relief from the antihistamines, I would suggest you try removing foods from your diet and gradually re-introduce the foods one at a time until you find your culprit! Please do some research about food allergies first, certain food allergies are more likely to present with your symptoms more so than others. But also, bear in mind that not all allergies present the same way in everyone, so just because one person gets bloating from a food doesn't mean it wouldn't present in you as a rash. I would strongly recommend going to an allergy specialist and working out a plan to get to the bottom of this with them.Perhaps there are pets with fleas in your home? Fleas can cause this too.Best of luck and I hope you have already sorted this out or do soon.About a year and a half ago I started getting the odd bump which was really itchy, it looked exactly like a nettle sting (white) but was really itchy like a insect bite.
