Hi. Im 15 years old, and for the past 4 months, my skin has been extremely itchy. This includes my face(itches the most), my neck, my arms, my back, and some other spots. There doesnt appear to be any rashes, but my face is noticabley swollen(not extremely, but at least I can notice it) The itching mostly comes and goes, and is usually caused by preasure, heat, stress, or it just comes out of nowhere. I have been to the doctor several times over the summer, and I am currently trying to get an appointment for a dermatologist. The doctor I saw last prescribed me with a hiztemine blocker, (i think that is what its called) which has had no effect, and if anything has made it worse. Im so tired of having to deal with this every day... Sometimes I can hardly pay attention in school because it is so bad. I just wish I could go on with my life. The worst part about this, is that it started around my birthday =( If you are suffering the same symtoms, or have any idea what is happening, please post.

  • The swelling may not be allergies (the reason you take histamine blockers, or antihistamines). You need to see an allergy doctor. There's something called angioedema (swelling) and it can sometimes be caused by something in your genes. When it's in your genes, it's called hereditary angioedema. It's very rare, but it can happen even if there's no one else in your family with swelling and itch. Not to scare you, but it can be *very serious!* Your throat can close, and you can stop breathing. Try not to worry-- I don't mean to frighten you. But you need an allergist, not a dermatologist, pronto! Best wishes. You're going to be okay. There are other drugs for this that work. :)

  • I do use the computer alot, but this has been going on since the summer, and i rarely even touched a computer during the summer. I even spent a week on vacation where I used no computers, and did not notice any changes in my condition. Some good news, though. After changing all of my bedsheets to new ones, I have noticed significantly less itching. But my face still looks red and slightly swollen, and my arms are darker and redder than normal. Its kind of like an orangish-tan. Most of the itching though has moved from my face to my arms. Also, I forgot to mention this in my first post- when I become stressed, embarrassed, hot, or overworked, my face turns beat red. I mean REALLY red. It also becomes very warm.
