Hi, Over the summer I picked up some poison ivy and I figured I was hyper-sensitive to the poison ivy because it just kept on spreading, even on my scalp. (every inch of my body) It was a horrible itching that I couldn't even sleep without waking up from the discomfort. I used all sorts of creams and anti-itch medicines. pretty soon the scales from the ivy went away but the itch remained. I started getting this hot sensation especially in my face, head and ears. I would get slight headaches and my nose would run once in a while just like alergies. My skin would flare up for no reason at all. Maybe I just barely rubbed up against somthing and it would just swell up. If I wanted to cause it, all I had to do was scratch myself and the puffiness would appear, the itchiness got worse, and my head would get really hot feeling, and stuffy. I finally went to the doctor and he told me it was allergies. I told him I've never had allergies before. He said it could be due to climate change. For some reason I just don't believe it is allergis. I believe it has something to do with the poison ivy that I had. have you ever had anything like this before? How can I get rid of it?

  • Hi there~! When I was 8 years old, I went to church camp and got poison ivy the very first day. It spread very quickly. It was so severe that my eyes were nearly swollen shut as well as my nose. I was unrecognizable to my mother when she came to pick me up. I was taken to the emergency room, and given 3 shots of cortizone, and monitered until the swelling went down. It was a extremely tormenting experience. Cannot think of anything put the tingling pain and ITCH!!!!! As well as sensitivity to my skin. (the rash had spread to every part of my body. Between toes and fingers, scalp, mouth, buttocks, vaginal area. I am sorry to say, like yourself, the doctor told me that it was an allergic reaction. I am very careful to not get it again! My immune system must not be able to fight it, or I am highly sensitive, like certain people and bee stings. Yesterday I thought I had poison ivy again, then the itchy splotches went away by morning. Yet, it reappeared lastnight. Tis why I am on this site, trying to find an answer. Good luck to you and stay clear of POISON IVY!!!!!
