Within a period of about a month, my ring finger apparently swelled or somehow increased in size to the point where I can't get my engagement ring past the main joint. The finger doesn't look swollen and isn't hot. Although I have been experiencing some mild pain and a tingling sensation in that finger and in my pinky (on both sides). I might have an ulnar nerve compression issue (which would make sense because I switched desks to a rather un-ergonomic setup and have since remedied that).
But would that explain the enlarged joint?
My blood tests, including the sedimentation test to test for inflammation, were normal, even low (a 4 on a scale of 0 to 20). So I don't _think_ it's arthritis. I'm only 32.
Should I get my ring resized, because it won't fit now, or should I wait with the possibility that the swelling will go down and my finger will return to its normal size (5.25)? And what can I do to reduce the swelling, if that is indeed what has caused the joint to get bigger?
