Is this normal?

Occasionally my vision will start rapidly 'zooming' in and out of whatever i'm looking at. Other times objects will appear to be much further away then they actually are. It's coupled with a strange feeling as though my my head's not sitting right. I normally find it happens at night but it has happened during the day. When i close my eyes this feeling persists.

This has happened all my life and when i've talked with people about it they have no idea. Not really a problem for me, just interested to know what causes it.
