Is this IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) or something else?

Ever since the beggining of August I have either been feeling sick or bloated. I feel sick almost everyday, which has made me think I'm going to vomit and has developed into emetophobia. I have also been constipated. A few days ago my back really itched and tingled. I also had a pain in the skin between my thumb and my finger. I went to the doctors twice, first I was given Buscopan and now I have movicol. Is this just IBS, or is it something else?

  • I have exactly the same thing. I feel very nauseous ALL the time..and feel like i am going to vomit. Mine also turned into a phobia. I am scared to go anywhere and all i think about is throwing up. I have pain in my abdomin and just a sick feeing. Doctors diagosed me with IBS..but after more testing said it wasnt that. Now they possibly think it is either Crohns or ulcerative colitis...but they dont knw why im so nauseous. Have you found anythin new out

  • Here are a few questions that your answers may help others come up with suggestions and ideas to question the dr about...How old are you? Your gender? Are you at normal weight or above/below weight?Have you always been in good health or have you had any other serious illnesses?Have you been tested for diabetes?Has anyone in your family been diagnosed with gastrointestinal problems or diseases; or other problems like diabetes? Are you having difficulties eating? Do you have increased thirst?Any back pains?Any pain in your abdomen and where? Have you noticed anything that seems to trigger your symptoms? For instance, do you tolerate fatty foods, alcohol?Has your diet changed before you got the bloating? (for example switiching to a high protein high fat diet like Atkins can cause problems for some folks). Are you running any fevers?Could you have a GI infection of some sort since August? Have you had your stools tested for parasitic, viral, yeast, and bacterial infections?Do you or have you had have diarrea, constipation or combination of both? Any thing abnormal going on with your BMs? (you said you had been constipated)When was the last time you saw the dr?These are just some questions that could help others here give you suggestions on what things you and your dr could look into as causes for your bloating and vomiting? Your answers may be helpful to those trying to help you.But don't self-diagnose either; but use the ideas you find here to help you get diagnosed by a physician. Self diagnosis some things can get you into big trouble. Good luck. I hope you find your answers to what is ailing you and that you will be better soon.Ever since the beggining of August I have either been feeling sick or bloated. • It does not sound like IBS. I have it and when I have an episode of it, it is EXTREMELY painfull and unbarable....like having cramps from bad diarrhea and bad constipation at the same time.

  • You mentioned IBS like symptoms along with itching and pain. This sounds like the way my moms symptoms started. It has progressed to include chronic infections and joint swelling. She has seen several doctors and specialist so far they have all simple given up. Literally telling her "I don;t know whats wrong, I am going to send you to see...." I recommend that you do your best to find a doctor that will work with you fully. Try a multi-symptom checker and fully research any leads you find that way. It may be time consuming and a little discouraging at times but it is worth the effort. Though my mom is still undiagnosed we have manged to give her a great deal of relief through diet, herbal supplements, and medical treatment. Best of luck to you in finding your path to wellness.
