I've been refered to a thoracic surgeon after a barium swallow test showed Zenker's diverticulum. I have a zillion questions and wonder if symptoms I've had for years are related to this or are seperate issues. I get chronic bronchitis @ least once a year, I snore loudly, am absolutely exhausted and have zero energy.....I've even been falling asleep while driving! I went to gyno for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in hopes that energy, excessive sweating from head, exhaustion, etc. could be improved---I note no improvement.
My neck/throat has gotten huge, I've gained alot of weight, I regurgitate food and cough all nite. I've had experiences of waking up during the night feeling like I can't breathe. Sometimes I get a spasm in my stomach or bowel that feels excuriating like a charlie horse.
Prilosec from dr. cured occ. but extreme heartburn/gerd. (vomiting up bile)
Is this all the diverticulum, or is it several disorders? Does the surgery to correct this disorder improve any of the above listed symptoms? Might I have thyroid complications...is that related?
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated!
