I don't understand why I am insulin resistant. I have been on an almost carb-free diet for about 10 weeks - no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and of course no sugar at all - but the last fasting insulin blood test came back with a result worse than the first. I just saw a dietitian and she confirmed the diet is not the cause.
I'm a reasonably fit and healthy woman (age 50), I'm not obese but I have some excess abdominal fat. I feel like I am heading towards diabetes but I don't know why or how I can stop it! Does anybody have a similar story or an idea what could be the problem?
