Hi, a family member has been very ill for several months now & doctors treating him have had little success. First he was treated for lung problems as his lungs were filled with water & he had great difficulty breathing. Then other doctors said he needed dialysis. He also has high blood pressure, lung congestion, shortness of breath, lots of clear flem, he hasn't been able to sleep, he shivers in the sun, has weak knees, sometimes loses focus & is in his mid 50s.

Recently we conducted an independant sputum test & found that e coli was present in his lungs.
Please help us with the following :
i) what could this disease be?
ii) what are the implications?
iii) how serious is it?
iv) how do we treat it?
v) what type of specialist could we take him to that might be able to help us? (e.g.
Pulmonologist /Nephrologist...)
