Hi, I'm tired all the time and find it really difficult to concentrate or focus on anything. Sometimes i get really irritable and for no reasons at all, i just feel very very sad.
Recently, i broke out in hives(which has never happened before) and the local pharmacist told me to take anti-histamines. It helped for a while, but now, my eyelids are swollen, my eyes are a little itchy and there's an itchy, dry,red patchy rash on my forehead and under my right eye.
Also, ive been trying to lose weight, but no matter how hard i exercise or try not to overeat(which i often do, regretfully), i cant shift the weight at all. i get so depressed cos ive no energy to do anything..and all i want to do is to stuff my face even though it makes me feel worse later.
I dont dare to see a doctor because im embarrassed.
Am i just being paranoid and weak-willed?

  • There could be a physiological problem...But you may find this a little helpful. I work in an eating disorders clinic and am also assistant in a centre for depression; I think that this may be the route of your problems. I see twenty people a week who are suffering in this awful cycle. Regretfully, I would have to advise you to see a doctor to rule out thyroidy things and any defieciencies (endorphins must be low!)...can be dietary cause. BUT also to offer you some support. If you want to lose weight, regular eat and avoid binging or eating large quantities; 3 balanced meals and 3 snacks a day. Try to have sufficient and then metabolism will speed up and maybe this will help. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted; it just sounds so sim ilar to people's stories...do not be embarassed (thousands and thousands are similar)!!!!!Its what doctors are there for.

  • I appreciate your condition. Although I am not professional nor experienced persons, from my own experience and maturity, I am now 43 myself, the symtoms you experience is not uncommon to most of us. However, if we can focus our lives positively, feed our mind with positive thoughts with the simple things which fill our lives, keep life simply, keep it focussed with little things, small goals and most of all to create the life space we can make the most out of. I have found this very difficult myself, i am unstructured, not focussed on goals and have much caring on others and my energy has been disbursed as I found the structure around me not condusive to my needs and what I expect. So I have diversified my limited energy and reserves until I still find I cannot be selfish to want to do things for my own ends and goals. So create these goals before its too late, and believe in them, make them realistic. I feel we need to mediate and spend time to create a space to create the life we can live peacefully with. And if you can do this you will find the space to be at peace without depression and mood swings. Remember to do exercise too, simple ones, from cleaning around the home to small walks local and nice places as well as creating a network of good people to share the little niceties of life.

  • You should see an allergy specialist and get checked for food allergies. Not only can a reaction to food make you very tired, but it can cause depression and irritability. In terms of your eating habits--I don't know if allergies can influence them, but depression can. You may think--I don't eat the same foods everyday--but if you are allergic to something like wheat or tomatoes, you may be surprised at how often you consume a type of food. And don't be embarrased! It is the quality of your life that will be affected vs a couple of embarrasing minutes with the doctor. If it is the overeating at times that you are afraid to talk about then leave that part out (if you must). But keep in mind that it may be significant to your diagnosis or treatment. Here is a good web page:http://www.thedietchannel.com/Food-Allergies-Could-You-Have-Undiagnosed-Food-Allergies.htmBest of luck!!

  • Maybe it's your eye makeup. Quit wearing it. Change your face cleaning stuff...eliminate and search for allergens, nuts, wheat...get an allergy testing done. Watch any meds, it might be an allergic reaction. It could be herpes conjunctivitis, which is serious. It could be shingles...you really need a doctor to help you.

  • It could be any of the conditions i have, hypo thyroid, diabetes type 2 controlled, fibromyalgia and now surgically induced menopause. I went into early menopause. I was shocked when the doctor told me I was in menopause, I was planning on trying to have another baby but ended up with a hysterectomy instead. Do not let them tell you its in your head without being aggressive first and have all issues checked out. By the time I changed Doctors, i had several severe problems which my doctor labeled as in my head. Females are at great disadvantaged in the medical community. They like to label us pretty fast! Hang in there. YOu describe valid symptoms of several diseases or conditions. Be your own best advocate. I let a doctor run me out of his office and feel like five years of my life were one big blur.
