Hi, I have been to several physicians and it's cost me quite a bit of money for tests and office visits co pays..and yet in still, I still don't know what's wrong with me?? I have been treated for depression off and on, I've been lethargic and always very tired..I went in for a checkup and the doctor examined and told me I had a "GOITER"..I didn't know what the heck that was, he explained to me it was the thyroid gland..and about the swelling in the front of my neck..and suddenly some of my symptoms made sense to me..I had been having these choking episodes in the middle of the night, where I would wake up feeling like something was caught in my throat and I'd have these coughing fits out of my sleep.I never thought much of it all this time..The doctor ordered thyroid tests..but they've come back negative every time..and I've had several tests since then..always negative..last year I had a thyroid ultrasound test, it was negative too...so I began to get confused as to my bouts of hair loss, weight gain..throat feeling like a golf ball is trapped in there...hot flashes, sweating profusely, depression, fatigue, lethargy...I'm at a loss..and finally yesterday morning I woke up feeling like I had no room to even swallow..my throat felt like it was completely swelling up! And the majority of the pressure feels right in the middle of my throat and along the sides..I couldn't take it anymore, so I finally went on to the E.R. There they examined me, did another round of thyroid tests and this time a C.T. Scan..The nurse told me I had a fever, which I didn't even realize I had, because I hadn't felt hot or anything..After 2 hours there my C.T. scan and blood test finally come back and again all NORMAL?? IN fact on my C.T. scan they didn't even mention seeing swollen lymph nodes or anything? The E.R. Doc told me he couldn't understand what was causing my throat to feel that way..and all he could come up with was acid reflux? I don't even have heartburn or anything like that??? He discharged me and sent me home with prescriptions for pepcid a.c and xanax...SO I went home still suffering and not having any ***n clue STILL, what's wrong with me? He didn't even mention that the C.T scan showed that my thyroid gland even looked enlarged like I had been told by my primary care physician..??He claims if there was anything wrong, that the c.t. scan would've shown it...SO yet another huge medical bill on the way, but no explanation as to what is really wrong with me.... I am really confused..HELP what should I do...???

  • Are you on ANY kind of medication? If you are research it on the internet by typing in the name of the drug/problems/forums..I had a friend that had asthma and she was darn near dying and they kept insisting she use those inhalents... she kept telling them they were making her throat close up when she used them.. They labled her crazy and threatened to tell her HMO provider she was refusing treatment and the HMO would no longer pay for her treatment.. Here we are 10 years later and it turns out those inhalents WAS doing that to other people.
