I have recently been found out that I have acquired itchyosis.Obviously not inherirted since I am 54 and it just flared up about 10 months ago.My major 2 problems I am suffering with is an extreme itch all over that that I use antihistimines to try to control (fair sucess) and scaly redness on my face and neck. When I have tried different moisturizers they usually make the condition worse. If there is anybody that has Ichthyosis or knows about it and has found out something that works for them to try to control the itching, scaling and redness,I would truly appreciate any advice or help that you can give me.

  • My niece has Itchy Mom syndrome when she is pregnaunt. I am not sure on the real name for the disease, but it has to do with your liver. She has to get induced early to have her babies. I don't know what she does to control it, I would think drinking plenty of water could'nt hurt. Anyway, it does have something to do with the liver if that helps at all.

  • well you are lucky ... I have it since the birth .... well if it is not so strong you can use Vaselline intensive rescue body lotion ... or Melrose handcream .... this cream can be only bought in USA .... but those are two best products for Ichthyosis .... I think the first is better if you have mild Ich .... and if it is stronger than you can use second.... also you can combine it :) :)put on body everyday after shower :) :)and good luck ....

  • Mine wasn't officially diagnosed by a doctor, but having this fish-scale skin isn't normal and only Ichthyosis vulgaris sufferers have this kind of skin. Looking at the dry and flaky skin, I need no doctor to confirm what I have. It is obvious, I have it (ichthyosis vulgaris) too.

I have used expensive creams for this but no obvious effect. Today, I only have SR Lotion in my bag for my skin disorders. I have KP too. Keratosis and Ichthyosis combined together is a complete hassle. Fortunately, SR Lotion is two-in-one. It treats both skin disorders.

  • I have tried SR Lotion for my Ichthyosis. It worked. It minimized the fish-scale skin. It's smoother now.
