I'm a healthy 53 yr old female who worked out a ran all of the time. I was a personal trainer for 20 years and did a bodybuilding contest one time. I've always had what they call restless leg syndrome but this one day was worse. In the morning I ran 5 miles, gardened for a hour, went bowling with my daughter and friends and came back and let the kids swim. The whole time my legs ached like they would do at night so I did have a glass of wine with my girlfriend thinking it would help but NO! That night I was very agitated and argued with my husband a lot! Went to bed awoke at 4:30 went to the bathroom and then felt like I had indigestion so I laid on the bed and soon after my body just felt like it shook and when it stopped I couldn't feel anything from below my breasts on down! I thought this has got to go away so I laid there for about 15 minutes and no change so I had to wake up my husband who thought I was just crazy then when he lifted my leg and dropped it he soon realized I was serious. Since then I have seen over 60+ Drs and not one can give me a diagnosis! I was at a rehab facility in Encinitas, Ca for 2 months and did good since I had great upper body strength but they left me on a treadmill for parapalegics and my left foot almost did a 360! Now I battle with blood clots. Then they sent me home in my own bed then developed a stage 4 bed sore!!!!! So back to the ER and within 2 hrs had major surgery with a flap with 87 staples and on bed rest in a nursing home for a month!!!!!! Needless to say lost a lot of my upper body strength and now my hips have started to calcify! I've had spasms that are uncontrollable so I had a baclofen pump put in but doesn't seem to help much at all but they say that is what's keeping the tone in my legs. My legs don't look like I'm paralyzed. I have what they say sensory but no motor function. I can feel my right leg but the left where I developed the blood clot isn't the same. I can move my toes slightly but now I get a burning sensation thru my hips and down my left leg to my foot which causes such pain that affects my whole life! I have been turned away from Drs because there is no diagnosis! I'm looking for anyone that has heard of this before and can help me. I'm determined to walk again I just need the right help. I am a fighter!!!
