Hi all,

I really hope some expert will give me some idea what is going on with me. Ill try to describe my ordeal as accurately as i can. Here goes. about 140 days ago on April 13th. I had a 1 night stand with a gal with unknown health status. I used condom and the sex was brief, there was no kissing, i touch her clitoris for about 10 secs and penetration was only about 30 secs. Before that night i was recovering from a bad flu, and now 140 days later i still have mild runny nose. This is my 1st symptom.
8 weeks after exposure i decided to go take a blood test to make sure. I tested positive for Herpes type 1. Since exposure till the day i went for the blood test, i had this strange feeling, where i feel its kinda hard to breathe, at 1st it was very mild, so i figured it must be the runny nose thats causing it. The feeling is hard to describe, sort of like out of breathe, but since its so mild initially i barely noticed it, i only noticed when im singing or taking in a big breathe. Around about 9 weeks post exposure, this strange feeling intensified, this time its coupled with heart palpitation. My heart is pumping not fast not slow but really HARD. This scary feeling lasted for 1 week, then the heart palpitation did not disappear but its milder now. I only get the heart palpitation when im sitting down now.
Around 80+ days post exposure, i had some new symptoms. My neck is painful on the right side. I find it hard to turn to the right side. This would give me some headache. I forgot to add that i also had swollen lymph node under my right chin and under my right arm pit and behind my right ear, i noticed they were swollen on the 8th week post exposure. Then there were the small red pimple like spots. Its small and only grow like 2 or 3 in a certain area. I get them like 2 or 3 on my triceps and 3 or 4 on my legs. I also remember having 2 spots on my neck. They last for about 2+ weeks before disappearing.
I want to add that i also lost 3 kg, but i have gained them back lately as my appetite is improving. I also noticed im a lot weaker now, i cant lift my usual weight in the gym.
PRESENTLY, my symptoms are
1) Lymph Node under my right chin, right armpit and behind my right ear is STILL slightly swollen.
2) I still have runny nose
3) My latest symptom, MY THROAT is SWOLLEN, its hard for me to breathe when im sitting down. When im stand up, i cant hardly feel the swollen throat, but when i sit down, i find it hard to breathe and my heart would beat extra hard.

Before that 1 night stand, i was as healthy as a horse. Never had all this problem before. I know i have cold sore, but could i have caught something else from that gal ? im not a sexually active person. And that night was my 1st ONS.
I had a blood test done on the 100th day post exposure, all came back negative, except Herpes. The blocked sinus and swollen throat was confirmed by an ENT. Could i have mono ?

  • Maybe you didn't catch anything from this girl... maybe you just got sick on your own. But if you're still concerned that you may have caught something get yourself tested or see a doctor and tell them your situation. Hope this helps.

I appreciate your trying to help, but how can anxiety cause swollen lymph node? further more its been swelled for 5 months already, not to mention runny nose for 5 months as well. And what about the daily sudden fatigue and general malaise feeling ? it always strikes around 6 pm and its always coupled with a low grade fever. Sometimes when its really bad, the red spots will appear as well. The most irritating symptom, the swelling of my sinus and throat as confirmed by an ENT. I find it HARD to breathe !! Why is this happening ? i just want an explanation, if its Herpes then fine, whtever it is, i just want to know, if i can do something about it, then ill do it. If i cant, then so be it.

  • You do need to see a doctor again. If you tested positive for Herpes you need to be rechecked. Yes, you could have mono- classic symptoms, fevers, swollen glands, exhuastion but I am not sure what the red bumps are. Get some blood tests done. Good luck.
