  • Were you ever treated for the mold? If so, what did you take? How many antibiotics have you taken in the past year? What meds are you currently taking for your symptoms? Do you still live near toxic mold? What is the color of the phlegm and is it easy or hard to expectorate? Do you have chest pain with your cough? Do your symptoms come about seasonally? Do you eat a lot of dairy and citrus fruits? Are you male or female? how old are you? Sorry for the questions, but if you could answer them all it would be helpful. Best wishesDOM

Your docs will not be able to help you with this. Please get yourself a good quality PROBIOTIC and begin taking this daily - a double dose would be good. I like Jarrowdophilus, NSI's Probiotic 10-20, or something similar. Check out www.vitacost.com for the best prices on the net, or go to a good healthfood store. The probiotic will help reintroduce the beneficial bacteria in your intestines, which in turn will help boost your immune system. There are herbal remedies for sinusitis that are very very effective. Often sinusitis, esp chronic sinusitis, is fungal in nature. Antibiotics will make your symptoms worse. Please google candida overload as it is likely you have this. www.candidasupport.org and www.wholeapproach.com are two good websites on this problem. Most docs dismiss candida overload, but it is more common that they think IMO. Good herbs to treat sinusitis include oregano oil (good quality of 3-5oomg several times a day). There is an excellent Chinese herbal remedy called Viola Clear Fire, but is only available thru acupuncturists. Other herbs that include the ingredient Berberine, like coptis root, Oregon Grape root, goldenseal. Colloidal silver is helpful. Garlic is an excellent antifungal and antibacterial. Herbs to treat candida include the above plus pau d'arco, Threelac or Fivelac, caprylic acid, and others. Please research this. I think it would be very very helpful. A neti pot or Dr. NeilMed's sinus rinse is essential. Please learn to use this daily, just like brushing your teeth. Mucinex is the only OTC med I recommend to help thin the nasal secretions. This is very helpful and get plain mucinex (not DM) 1200 mg twice daily. All of the above will also help treat the toxic mold...but if you still live with it you need to get the toxic mold taken care of professionally, or move. I used to suffer from similar symptoms. Was once prescribed avelox and had hallucinations...I got clostridium difficile infection from taking clindamyacin, and thought I was going to die. I will not touch an antibiotic anymore, as my body just cannot tolerate them. I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and have treated my sinus and asthma problems with acupuncture, herbs, and NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Techniques). This past year I have had no sinus infections and haven't used an inhaler in over 12 months. I highly recommend a qualified acupuncturist who is also a certified herbalist or NAET practitioner to help you. I hope you try some of my suggestions. Please give this time - you didn't get sick overnight. But if you continue taking antibiotics or steroids you WILL get much worse - I guarantee this. Best wishesDOM

  • I'm not a Dr, but I do have mild bronchiecstasis and your symtoms sound similar. Bronchiecstasis is a type of lung damage, but it is very rare in younger people who don't already have major health problems such as cystic fibrosis. My experience was that because it is so rare it took ages before any Dr even considered this as a diagnosis. I was misdiagnosed with asthma. I lived somewhere with mould and develop a cough and breathlessness and got constant chest infections. If it is bronchiecstasis and not too severe, then breathing exercises will make a big difference. I was very breathless and coughing lots, now I don't have any symptoms unless I get a really bad cold. And although my symptoms were so bad that when I walked I would got overtaken by very elderly people as I had to walk so slow to avoid coughing fits, I have got a very mild version. If it is bronchiecstasis I found it took over 6 months of doing breathing exercises before I really felt the benefit, so if it is this just be aware you need to persevere.

Also have read that orange juice makes asthma worse. I have much to tell you about all the research i have done and what natural meds really work without side effects. Most prescription meds have horrible side effects and i have learned the hardway. Please email me if you like at paddlefish9@att.net. I am 61 and battled asthma since i was 48. Don't give up. Maybe some of the natural meds will help u like they do me and yes no doctor listens to us anymore, they just keep prescribing meds cause they actually don't know the answers and aren't curious or interested enough to try and help. It's get'em in and get'em out for that office visit money nowadays, you got do the searching yourself sorry to say.
