I need some guidance...
A year ago I started out with a cound bruise like patch above my breast that remained for several months - it was itchy, painful & sometimes the pain radiated down my arm. I was also lethargic I had 2 mamograms, a biopsy and bloodwork. Bloodwork suggested elevatated ANA level - went to a rheumatologist who did more bloodwork to rule out Lupus , prescribed prednisone & sent me to a derm. Derm took biopsy and diagnosed Lupus Panniculitis & began me on Plaquenil. Within 3 weeks I was hospitalized for 5 days with a severe skin reaction to the Plaquenil, which accompanied low blood pressure & high fever. After release, I was still on high doses of prednisone. The initial problem of the rash like bruise on my breast cleared up.
The rash cleared up, but now my heels & achiles tendon, my ankles, wrists and base of my thumbs are in constant pain. I have another welt like red bruise which has gotten bigger & spreading on my thigh and my hair is starting to fall out. Not in large clumps but about 40 strands after a shower and 10-20 randomly if I run my fingers through my hair. I am back on prednisone which is now showing no relief at all. The biopsy is inconclusive & my ANA levels now seem to be normal. It was suggested I go for a second opinion to a "Houselike" md Can anyone take a stab at this?

  • Could be chronic Lyme and some of the coinfections. I'm on plaquenil myself. Might want to join Lymenet first though for more info because most doctors will tell you it isn't Lyme when in fact the tests are not reliable.
