Ahem. Well, I'm a seventeen year old female and don't have access to a car too often (and this the doctors) and when I do go, they can't seem to come up with anything. So I thought maybe someone on here can help. Oh, I hope.

xSoreness around Large Intestine] The area around my large intestine has been sore and tender on and off for the past few months.

xDigestive Issues ] My digestive system doesn't seem to be working that well.

xDiet Changes/Throat Issues] My sense of taste is off horribly. I can't eat meat, it tastes rotten. (It doesn't even smell right. It'll even give me headaches sometimes.) A few other foods taste bad too, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. My doctor said it might be my tonsils (which have been red and sore horribly over the past week) or a sinus cavity infection or whatever. I recently had a CT-- and when she checked that, couldn't see anything, but didn't pursue the tonsil factor. She merely swabbed my throat and told me I didn't have strep, 'so gargle salt water and it will go away eventually.' I'm not sure if this is genetic, but my father had issues when he was a boy and had to have his removed.

xFatigue ] I've been feeling ridiculously weak and been getting sick quite a lot-- I assume this is from my harsh change in diet that I'm having a hard time monitoring.

That's all I can really think of right now, but I'm a little worried this might be something fairly serious, and even if it isn't, it's making me miserable. I want to eat again!

  • I-- err. I know it's awkward to be posting in my own thread considering no one else has, but I'm a little dejected no one's even glanced at this excluding me since yesterday. Although I realize it's a little soon to be a little upset, I just-- I'm rather fustrated with this and a little attention would be nice.I still haven't been able to dig up any information on this, and I'm flat out desperate for help. Any tip or advice or idea... anything would be nice. Please help me out.I know I seem like I'm overrecacting-- I guess I probbably am-- but I feel like I can't take this anymore.

  • Well...I looked at your post, but not sure I can help any. Strep is different than tonsils, so it still could be tonsils. I would ask mom to take me to a different doctor, or go back to the doctor and tell him you need further evaluations. Your abdomen could be anything. You need blood work for viruses, infections and the other concerns. Your lower area could be a female problem, appendix, intestines...try going vegan. The hormones in the beef may be bothering you.

  • Well, I... kinda can't. I have health insurance, but it's pretty picky. Anyway, the doctor-- before-- did clearly state that it had been my large intestine that had been sore. There was a sample that needed to be taken but results weren't ever given back... I don't know.Anyway, I already a vegetarian-- though not by choice, I assure you. Do you really think its nessicary to cut out the dary products and things like eggs as well? It's hard to keep a good diet even now, and I don't know if I can go fully vegan...

  • That's funny, I thought I responded in this.Anyway, I can't be taken to a different doctor-- my insurance doesn't cover anyone else, really, and my family is a little bit on the lower-class side-- we don't have much money to go around. And the only person in my family who has a car is my father... and he's... odd. He's pretty much a pureist when it comes to health-- and hates doctors. And with his mildly explosive temper, I'm not pushing it to him.I went to a doctor when the issues with my intestine first started-- it was so sore, it would double me over at times. It was made quite clear that it was my large intestine that was sore-- pressing on my stomach as he moved around the area where it should be caused a bit of pain. Also, I'm already a lacto-ova vegitarian out of the nessisity to avoid meat. Is there really a need to go fully vegan? Also, I suppose I should have clarified the digestive issues... everything seems to pass through my system far too quickly-- and as such, not digesting properly. Does that... change anything?

It was made quite clear that it was my large intestine that was sore-- pressing on my stomach as he moved around the area where it should be caused a bit of pain." This is a indication of inflamation. Inflamation of the intestine can be caused by IBD. The most comon being Crohns or Ulcerative Colitis. It can also be caused by diverticulitis. Weak spots on the intestine that cause small poutches to form (diverticulas). These poutches can become inflamed (diverticulitis). Fatiuge is involved in both of the above. The taste changes could be due to crohns. You should have the following tests done: ColonscopyEndoscopyfeCal testWhite blood cell count (complete)ESRSED You should aslo ask for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, just to make sure that the fatiuge isn't being caused by a low thyroid hormones. Hope this helps... Kiera
