  • There are a variety of treatments for gouty arthritis. 1 - medication - which you indicate isnt' helping2 - diet control - google gout diet and adjust accordingly. Will help prevent future flares.3 - lab studies - what is your latest uric acid level? If high - see 1 and 24 - Vit C - sufficient daily doses helps the body excrete uric acid. As does a Rx medication called probenecid.5 - corticosteroid - helps reduce inflammation - either oral or intraarticular injection6 - surgical intervention to remove gouty topher. Are you sure it is gout? Have you been diagnosed by a physician? Try seeing an ortho surgeon. I am a NP working in an Ortho practice
