I am so confused! I had baby #2 in july and lost some of the weight obviously, right away. But since September I have gained 16 pounds, with no justification. I had begun a very healthy diet and cut out sugar and processed food a long time ago. I have every symptom of hypothyroidism, minus the dry skin and weak nails, yet my test came back normal. The dr took my blood and I am not anemic, no high/low thyrois and my liver and kidneys are fine. How is this possible i am 26 yrs old and GROWING. I exersise at LEAST 20-30 mins a day and walk almost everywhere. I am irritable, moody, SO tired it hurts and my periods are totally out of wack. the dr said I gained another pound since last week....please help me!

  • That's exactly what happenend to me! I had my son lost May and since then have gained 40 pounds (I now weigh more than I did the day I gave birth to my son!) I have the irritability, crazy menstruation, super tired during the day and can't sleep at all at night. I'm getting absolutely ignored by the only 2 clinics in my town, I go to the doctor tomorrow to find out more. I also follow a low-cal diet (less than 1200 a day) and work out 3 to 4 times a week where I either run 3 miles or bike 5. I gained 6 pounds in 2 weeks a while ago, and the only syptoms I don't have... weak hair and nails. If you want to keep in touch, e-mail me at jegard@iastate.edu

  • Both of your cases sound like a thyroid disorder.

  • You both really need your thyroid checked!!!! Sometimes after having a baby, your thyroid stops functioning right. Make sure you also get a antibodies test done. This will show if it is an autoimmune disease. Good luck to both of you....
