I know it is most people's dream to be thin, but for me, its been a nightmare. I've been thin all my life. People call me anorexic, they call me all sorts of names. My dad is also on the thin side so I always contribute my skinnyness to him. My problem is I am a 27 year old asian female who weighs only 93lbs. My weight ranges between 93-95lbs. I eat 2meals a day, I eat a light breakfast, I do snack often. Ive tried protein shakes, Ive tried eating right before bedtime, but nothing is working!! I also do not exercise all that much. I would like to weigh more than 100lbs. I dont know what I should do anymore. This has been depressing me and giving me low self esteem. Maybe i have a medical problem, please help me!! Any suggestions about what I should do either with diet or tests by MDs would be gladly appreciated!!

  • You didn't say how tall you are BTW- how thin you look would depend on your height really. Some people just have really fast metabolisms and so they are thin and don't gain weight. It also has to do with body frame- you're obviously not the "fat" type or the "muscular" type (endomorph, ectomorph, mesomorph; I forget which is which), but so what? Let people call you anorexic- they're probably just jealous that you're so thin and try and justify it by assuming you have an eating disorder. Try and spin it as a compliment. I bet if you went to a dietairy specialist, they would say you don't look starved at all, just thin. If you're perfectly healthy at your weight, then there is nothing wrong with you. If you insist on tests, you could get a thyroid test and a glucose test, but I highly doubt they will turn up anything or else you'd have other symptoms. Consider doing weight training- it will tone your muscles and develop them and, in the process, also make you gain weight as muscle is heavier than fat. No offense, but have you ever spent time or lived in Asia before? You'd probably be considered a model there at your weight. I see girls every day who look incredibly thin and who seem to be EXTREMELY popular nonetheless. Part of it is cultural.
