I'm so sick of feeling like this. I am 17, I am ALWAYS unusually tired, I have no energy and just feel like sleeping all the time, constantly hungry even after I just ate, can't seem to put on any weight- infact I am loosing weight, which I can't afford because I am already thin, have really itchy, dry skin. I am always thirsty and visit the bathroom about eight or nine times a day! It's driving me crazy. What is wrong?! Please help.

  • Ok, I finally went to the doctors yesterday and today I got the news I am type 1 diabetic. I am really scared about the diagnosis but in a way I am glad because I now know what was causing my symptoms and I can help to treat it.

  • Thank heaven you went to a doctor and caught it in time. I know lot's of diabetics that have it completely controlled. There is some research re: carbo restriction that your doctor might want you to try. You were smart!

  • What is the underlying reason for diabetes in a 17 year old girl. Perhaps a STRONG family history? If there is a family history of strokes, cancer or heart attacks.. she could have a polymorphism of MTHFR.. which in turn would predispose her to diabetes. I personally think a lot lays in our genetics.
