I'm really worried (Throat bleeding)

I have a pretty severe case of gerd. It's been treated and untreated on and off for the last two years. Over a year ago I developed the troublesome and uncomfortable throat strictures. I haven't had any medication in a couple months now. I woke today and felt like I'd swallowed something that was blocking my saliva from swallowing. I've had plenty of "stuck" sensations in the past. This one was the worse I've ever experienced. I gaged myself feeling around in my throat with my fingers for anything that got lodged in there. Of course there wasn't anything actually in there, but I started spiting up. I hawked severel lugies in the toilet and to my dismay I saw traces of blood in every one one. At first I wasn't sure, trying not to scare myself, but I haven't eaten anything with a red tint in over a day. Nor drank any red cool aid or anything that could possibly explain it being anything else. I got a second opinion about it and my friend is sure it's blood too. I'm going to go to the doctor as soon as I can afford to. In the mean time, I want to know what is happening to me. If there's bleeding does that mean my throat is developing cancer symptoms? I am really freaked out right now!

  • I'm 20 years old, and because of esophagitis I had to give up smoking eight or nine months ago.

  • Please get yourself to a good doc asap. Coughing up fresh blood is not something to take lightly and just shrug off. Are you on any medications for your GERD? ANy other meds? DOM
