This might be a bit lengthy and i want to apologise at the outset. I originally contracted this whatever it is @ 6 monthts ago, it was on and off for @ 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Recently9the last 6 to8 weeks) it's been non stop.

The most comon symptoms are a coat on my tongue plus and aching back. The first time i had it i was drinking 2 litres of water an hour my thirst was that insatiable

right now it's fatigue, lethargy and overall weakness(without the unquenchable thirst), i used to lift weights 3 or 4 times a week plus do an hour on my stairclimber 4 or 5 times a week plus walk 3 or 4 miles a day. I've been having the occasional epileptic seizure the past couple of years after going over 30 years without a single one

I have no appetite.......i haven't had sex in ages and don't use needles so i don't think it's hiv. I've gone from being the healthiest guy my age(52) to the sickest. I don't smoke and haven't taken any drugs for a year and a half, yes i drink too often as it's the only way i can numb the pain in my back plus i have idiopathic insomnia.

My doctor didn't even seem to be listening to me when i tried to explain my symptoms. I've had blood tests, urine samples taken as well a a chest X ray but he doesn't come back from his vacation for 2 weeeks so i have no way of knowing the test results. It's been suggested to me that i might have some form of hepititis.

  • I'm not a doctor in any sense of the word, but from my knowledge it sounds like you have something wrong with your kidneys (back pain + thirst.)Have you seen an optometrist since the onset of symptoms? If possible, see one, and have them look for "crystals" or copper rings, which is an optometric manifestation of kidney failures. Anyways, I hope this helps, if you haven't seen a doctor for tests on kidney function.--Sarahdeadlysauce@aim.com

  • Thanks Sarah :) You're the 2nd person to suggest that it might be some sort of kidney disease, would that account for the coat on my tongue? My doctor said that he's testing for everything....would the testing for kidney disease require a blood test or just x rays? Thanks in advance

  • Thanks Erin. Well as i stated above he said he's testing for everything so i would imagine that diabetes would be one of them but thanks for your suggestion :)
