Seems there are many of us :(
I too have been undiagnosed for over 3 years. Life has changed in many ways, and I'm just so sick of it. It's hard to be positive sometimes but my family keep me going :)

If anyone is interested in reading my long boring story:

  • Wow I cannot believe all you have been through!:( Please answer a few questions:How is your appetite - are you able to eat freely or do you have reduced appetite? Is your pain worse after eating? How are your stools - how frequent and what is the quality of the stool. Have you ever had a stool exam done with all of your GI visits? Were you on birth control prior to your symptoms developing? How is your period? Do you have a regular cycle or heavy and irregular? Is your pain constant or does it come and go? Do you still have pain on the left side or has it moved? Do you also have joint pain? Could you please list all meds, including bc if applicable? Have the docs tested and ruled out pancreatitis? Best wishesDOM

  • Sorry for the late reply Dom :)Regarding:Please answer a few questions:How is your appetite - are you able to eat freely or do you have reduced appetite? Is your painworse after eating?Appetite is the same, although I have cut back as eating produces more pressure on the rib and hence more pain How are your stools - how frequent and what is the quality of the stool. Have you ever had a stool exam done with all of your GI visits? All GI tests cannot find cause.I've been told it's just IBSI need to watch what I eat, constipation is the main problem, despite diet changes, I don't suffer from diarrhea what so ever, so in my opinion this is not IBSWere you on birth control prior to your symptoms developing? How is your period? Do you have a regular cycle or heavy and irregular? Not on birth control priorPeriod is perfect, like clock work (I'm 4 months pregnant now) delayed for so long because of undiagnosed pain but after almost 4 years and no answers I thought what the heck I'm just going to do itIs your pain constant or does it come and go? Do you still have pain on the left side or has it moved? Do you also have joint pain?Pain is constant, (always there, I'm never not it pain :o)can range from 4/10 to 10/10 on a daily basis, pain is random and higher pain levels during physical activity. Pain is 90% left sided, past year started to get same type pain right side.Joint pain......I have hip pain on ocassions...and although not joint pain I do suffer restless leg sydrome more so now than ever before Could you please list all meds, including bc if applicable? No meds at present due to pregnancy.I was taking tramadol for pain (stopped because I was worried about addiction factors, plus I didn't want medications, I want to find the cause of all this and NOT simply be medicated.I've tried many different medication all to no avail. Also I'm very sensitive to medications. Doctor's prescribed many, can't recall all.... off hand.Zooloft, Gabapentin, Lyrica...many others all I suffered side effects so dis-continued Have the docs tested and ruled out pancreatitis? All Tests showed negative.CT Scans, Ultrasounds, MRI, blood work etcHope that helps ?If you have any ideas, no matter how minor it may seem I'd love to know :)The lump, research I've done....this could be spleen or pancreas, they would sit in that location anyway..........Sammyhttp://www.undiagnosedillness.org

  • Hi Samantha,Unfortunately I cannot suggest anything as Im not a doctor. Bit I just want to say that I exactly know what you are going through. The pain, the desperation, no anwers...The worst is when you know that something is wrong but as docs cannot find the exact cause they assume you are just making it up and that it exists only in your head. I wish that our paths will lead to the right doctor soon. All the best Samantha!Kubu

  • Thanks Kubu :D it means alotI've seen many Doctors over the years and most say "yes there is something going on" BUT WHAT ??? others have said "I'll just have to live with it" how do you live like this...I know the cause will be found I just have to have faith and remain hopeful.I've watched alot of health/medical documentaries since being undiagnosed and tests don't always pick up the problem, it will take one special Doctor who thinks outside the square. The area of pain seems to be Spleen, Pancreas area, I think despite all tests negative either one is in distress hence the pressure on the bowel and rib cage..Sorry I tend to babbleThanks again KubuxxxSamanthahttp://www.undiagnosedillness.org

  • Dear Samantha,I have read and re-read your posting at your website and I know how to help you. You have already run out of doctors that can help. This treatment is more easily available in Australia than other parts of the world. It could be in your neighbourhood and you dont know about it. If you are only curious to find out what it is, dont email be. However, if you should email me, please know that you are in control. No one can force you to do anything.Best Regards.
