I'm a 15 year old girl, and physically week. I find it hard to do thing and opening bottle tops and sometimes even walking is a struggle for me. My friends all can do strenuous things and i can't. Sometimes it stops me doing things that i wish i could do like joining in in activitys and doing general things. I miss out on doing things with my family and friends due to the fact i cannot get up. So why am i so week?

I'm also what i would call very lazy, i can sleep all day and all night, but its not like i have a choice. It is as though someone has drugged me and i am passed out and when i wake up i am very groggy and find it hard to get out of bed. They when i acctually find the strength to get out of bed for about on hour i feel faint and then blackness closes in around my eyes and have to sit down. I miss out on doing things with my family and friends due to the fact i cannot get up. I must have at least 12 hours of sleep a day, but even if when i have school and i go to bed a 7 so i have 12 hours of sleep for when i wake up at 7, yet i still have this groggy horrible feeling, fainty feeling. But even by going to bed earlier i still sleep. Why is this? :(

Then there is the fact that i have a very low immune system does this have anything to do with it? I'm all the while, my mom has started calling me sick note but sometimes i think my mom thinks i'm lying but i really am ill. I don't want to ask to go see the docter because of this. My mom will think it is a waste of time and put it down to being lazy. Sometimes my mom puts it down to periods but i get off and on my period and i'm not even due on most the time and i started feeling like this 3-4 years ago i only started my period around 2 years ago?

My two friends who have minor anemia said i could be anemic but i don't think i am, yes i have the tierdness symptom but i don't think i am at all.

Is it just my age?
Am i just lazy?
Do my hormones have anything to do with it?

Could someone please help me? I have been like this for 3-4 years and i would really like to be able to get something to help it.
Thank you :D

  • What a sweet young girl you are, and how brave. You are too young to be this tired all the time. Please, please ask you parents to get you to a doctor and ask for all the tests you can. Also, let your school nurse know what you are going through, she could be an advocate for you at school. If the problem is money, there are ways to get medical care. Keep insisting, tell your friends, tell your pastor, if you go to church. You can be helped. Good luck and keep us informed.

  • I too have been chronically tired, ever since I was around 11 years old. I could get 15 hours of sleep and still feel weak and woozy. Have you had your blood sugar checked? You could have diabetes. Having low blood sugar can lead to fatigue and general weakness. Also, how much caffeine do you drink? Having too much in your system can lead to a lack of REM sleep, which is the type of sleep that a person needs to feel rested when they wake up. Do you have any other symptoms that tiredness? If so I'd see your doctor, because it could be something really serious. Some types of cancer can cause fatigue, or you could have Chronic Fatigue. Get checked out.cynthia
