  • Ok, let's cover the basics first. 1) Do you have a family history of hypertension or diabetes?2) Have you done complete blood work? (Urine exam, Serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), Thyroid Hormone (T4), EKG (electrocardiogram), Echocardiogram (ultrasound) of the heart, CBC Hemogram, Glucoses levels)I'm a med student, first year yet. Without those exams its impossible to speculate the cause.I'm not gonna say it's uncommon to have it at your age, because I have had blood pressure as high as that (170mmHg / 100mmHg) once, almost past out (I'm 20 years). And my blood pressure changes from times to times since then (some times get hypertensive). And mine is Inherited, unfortunately.Hope this helps.
