I haven't seen this one anywhere It started in the back of the neck yesterday, had a massage, used Salon Pas, took aspirin rubbed Icy Hot
Patch. pain stopped.
tonight while sleeping I woke up, the pain had shifted to the collarbone,
across the front. It's not killing, but enough to keep me up - it's also in
the shoulders, near the neck.
ANY THOUGHTS - PLEASE SHARE!!!
THANK YOU,
Hurting collar

Cervical(Neck)Nerves that go to the arms can cause pain into the shoulder(including the collarbone). Happens long after old trauma but cervical degeneration has been accelerated. Loss of the proper curvature in the neck after a whiplash type of accident will eventually cause these types of conditions.Find a good Chiropractor that does cervical curvature rehabilitation.

Started with pain in the high shoulder. Then it progressed to the collar bone and half-way around my neck in the back, and then I started getting shooting pains into that ear. After two weeks of this I felt I should be getting better if it was a muscle strain or something but it got worse. bad enough to the point I was taking pain pills and whining a lot. I saw the doctor yesterday, and he felt it was a pinched nerve in the neck, as the pain followed the path of a certain nerve. He took an xray of my upper neck, and the top three vertebrae are compressed, without any spaces or cushioning between them such as the other vertebrae had. He started me on a week's worth of prednisone, to take down the swelling. The skin over my collarbone had actually begun to swell due to the irritation from the nerve, I guess. He also put me on a month of Neurontin, which is an anti-seizure medication, but I've read that it's also used to treat nerve pain. I am only one day into the treatment, so don't know how it will turn out. However, one of these medications has really done a number on me otherwise. I feel a bit dizzy. My head feels ten pounds heavier than before, LOL. Don't know how else to explain it. I feel a wee bit disoriented as well. I hope my body adjusts to these meds soon, or else I'll begin to think that the cure is worse than the disease!
