I have been having many if not most symptoms of celiacs disease or at least gluten intolerance. So I have decided to eliminate gluten from my diet and see if my symptoms will be eliminated as well. It has only been about a week so far and I feel very little, if any at all, better.

1) How long after removing gluten from my diet should it take for my symptoms to change or be eliminated if I do in fact have gluten intolerance?

2) To what extent will my test be spoiled if I unknowingly ingest a small amount of gluten?

I thank you kindly and will be waiting eagerly for your response(s)!

  • I would say 3-4 weeks, however, proteins found in wheat have been known to stick around for 3 months after ingestion.

I went gluten free for 4 weeks and then challenged myself. I was rewarded with feeling sick for 2 days straight (dizziness, stomach pain, extreme fatigue).

Around week #3 is when I started noticing a HUGE difference in my health.
