How long after a possible infection should you get tested.

Once after sex I started having all these symptoms: painful urination, pelvic pain, sore throat, cloudy urine. These have disappeared, but not the cloudy urine, and now I start having rash. I got tested for HIV and syphilis less than a week after infection, and it was negative, but my regular MD had not told me that it was probably too early (I did some research later and found that in the early stages the antibodies wouldn't show up. But the different web-sites have all a different opinion on the "window"). My MD sent me to a specialist to get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia, and I had the tests about 12 days after the possible infection, They were negative. But I still worry. I dare not return to my MD to ask for a second test and I feel terrible about suspecting my partner, but I know something is wrong with my body. What would be a good time to get a second HIV and syphilis test, and how can I do this? Is it also possible that I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia too early, or should I stop worry about this?
