I am 32 and suffer from high platelets - I only discovered this at the end of Dec 07 when l had a really bad chest infection that lasted 6 mths.... and my GP done a blood test to discover my count was 700, my bloods were checked every month until my count came down..... Then it happened again in March this year, l became really ill with a viral infection, l went to the GP in which they checked my bloods and right enough my count was high, they decided to refer me to the Hematology Dept at the hospital, since then my count has rocked back and forth btw 450/650, l have been in for a bone marrow biopsy which has came back clear, also been in for an MRI scan as was suffering from headaches and a ultra scan as l had a tummy ache on my right side (which occurs every day), but both scans came back clear - I am still attending the hospital to get bloods check every 3mths and l have also been referred to the Gastroenterology as they think l might have either a diesase in my tummy that can be treated with antibiotics, so having a breath test in 2wks to determine this or have a server case of IBS to which l'm getting a colonsocopys done (think that's what it's called) - To top it off, my periods (since the bone marrow) has been every 12/21 days instead of the normal 28 days and getting bad clots..... I am getting an internal/smear test next week at my GP to check there is nothing wrong down there.....
This is really getting me down and affecting my life as l can't do the things that l use to do, my fiancee has been a power of support - But l just want to get to the bottom of everything....
