Hello there, I have a problem. I've been with my partner for about 5 years. Almost two years ago after I had a baby, I had a gut instinct that my partner cheated on me. I had an outbreak of herpes having slept with him after this as the doctor confirmed. She told me there was no way I could have contracted the virus if I hadn't had sex previously with someone who had it, and implied that maybe he had been unfaithful.

I have never had sexual relations with anyone else in my life, although he had a sexual partner before he met me. Could it be possible the virus was laying dormant in his system for more than 6 years? (He could have got it from his previous partner) Or am I just being hopeful that he didn't cheat on me and give me an std? He never mentioned anything about having it in the 5 years we've been together. Either way, it seems like too much of a coincedence for me to have had an outbreak after he supposedly slept with someone else (which he denies). I just need advice because part of me wants to believe he didn't cheat but the more rational part knows it.. thank you. With herpes I had sore spots down below, a fever and felt very unwell.
