Is an incisional hernia a soft movable swelling or lump or is it a hard unmovable lumb. I am scared. I first noticed this after adominal surgery. It is under the scar.

  • Hi, an incisional hernia typically won't move about, but should be "soft" and should reduce in size when you lay down. If it were a hernia, you should be able to reduce it by gently pressing on it with your hand. If it does not reduce, you should see a doctor immediately. Saying that, there's no reason to not get an unexplained lump or bump checked out by a doctor asap. Try not to squeeze it as this could do damage to the organ if it is a hernia. I did this to my inguinal hernia (trying to figure out what it was) and it ached for days!
