  • HSP is a vasculitis. This is an inflammation of the small blood vessels, which causes the rash, kidney problems, and probably the abdominal pain and joint pain dermatlas.med.jhmi.edu/derm/http://:o

  • Henoch-Schönlein purpura, DOES ANTONE HAVE IT. I NEED INFORMATIONMy Daughter was diagnosed with it about a year ago - started with a cold, followd by severe pain in her groin / joints to the extent she was unable to walk intermittedly for 2/3 weeks= was originally diagnosed wth a " water infection" . Then developed a rash ( similalr to meningitis rash - ie does not change when pushed with a glass!) on her legs & swollen ankles - this is the blood vessels tearing & leaking When i took her to casualty they diagnosed HSP - no treatment - just would get better over week or so - which it did - this was followed with weekly visits to check urine & blood pressure ( in very RARE occassions can have a longer term effect on kidneys i thnk) Was eventually given the all clear - specialist told me it was a "one off" & she has the same chances of developing again as any other person - & no long term effects - so after a worrying few weeks - all good news ! hope you are better soon

  • Henoch-Schönlein purpura, DOES ANTONE HAVE IT. I NEED INFORMATION I was diagnosed with HSP almost 5 months ago.Originally they were going back and fourth between blood disorders, and other odd stuff. I still have scars on my legs from the inflamed Purpura. They are fading, but they told me it could take up to a year for them to fully fade. My symptoms were :Aching joints, mostly in the legs and elbow.Full purpura lesions on my feet and legs. My ankles and feet swelled up so much I could not even put on shoes. When I did wear non loose clothing (like jeans instead of jogging pants) it would rub my skin raw. I had high counts of protien and blood in my uruine that were coming from my kidneys. This was all fixed with a course of Prednisone. 60mg/day for quite a while, then decreasing once it looked like the worst was over. I have not had a flare up since then. And hopefully I wont ever again.
