Hi, I'm a pretty young person (by young, meaning <18), and I have been having stomach pains and diarrhea for about a year now; I've been to my doctor to get a stool test, but he hasn't got the results back and it's been 2 weeks. I also am very tired all the time; this is bad because I'm very active and I can't do as well in sports as I was doing before. I also get cold randomly; it just rushes over me for about five seconds and then leaves. I get more sweaty everytime I play sports now; could that be a sign of my sickness? Please, if anyone can help, I want to get better.. it hurts all the time.

  • Exactly how old are you and are you male or female? How often is the diarrhea occuring? do you also suffer constipation. Sounds like you may have developed a food intolerance to something. Two weeks for a stool result? Have you phoned for the results or are you waiting for the doctor to get back to you. Never wait for the doctor to get back to you or you might be waiting a very long time.Agape, searchingsam

  • Stool tests do not take 2 weeks to get results. Did you actually do a hemoccult test with 3 specimens or the insure kit from Quest Diagnostics? You may have an intolerance to food like the person said before. You could try doing an immunocap allergy test for inhalents and for food.

  • Well, I'm pretty young... female, still in school. Diarrhea occurs almost twice a day; once in the morning, normally once in the afternoon. The doctor's got the results, but he says nothing's wrong.. Recently I've started ******g more often.. and my stomache gets these weird pains all the time; it feels unbearable for 2 seconds and then just goes away.. Don't think I have HIV, haven't had sex.. not planning to til marriage anyways..

  • It could be a food intolerence. It covers everything from the digestive issues to the sweating. (And if it isn't treated with a proper diet, it will cause a lot more problems)You say you got the results of your stool test back, what exactly were they testing for?

  • Are you under a lot of stress? Stress can irritate a lot of symptoms. You could have irritable bowel syndrome. Please see your doctor for that exploration.

  • Could be celiac disease (intolerance to wheat). You have a lot of the symptoms (diarrhea and gas and stomach problems). You should see a gastroenterologist. They should be able to help you more than a regular doctor. Please post and let us know.

  • My daughter had similar symptoms. She went to a gastro doctor and they did further testing. She hada bacteria in her stomach. She was put on medication which seemed to elimate the pain. That was a year ago. She has to go back because it returned, but I do believe some of it is related to stress. If you do not get an answer from one doctor keep trying and don't let them say it is IBS..when they don't what it is they say it is IBS and it could be something serious. Good luck!

  • I would ask my doc to do blood tests to rule out Inflamatory bowel disease. They will check for anemia and your white blood cell count.... If your not droping weight, passing blood or experincing joint pain I would say there is a real good chance it's only a minor problem that can be corrected with the right diet..

  • try avoiding tap water,or boiling it(let it cool!)before drinking.many foods contain low levels of irritants.until you can ask your doctor about an elimination diet, avoid pepper, curry, vinegar, coffee and large doses of fats.really rough on a young person,i know!fish and pears are relatively inoccuous .all the contributors here have raised useful lies of enquiry, but it may be worth trying the old fashioned way while you are being investigated.i agree that a.i d.s.is most unlikely!and you seem a little young for crones disease, too.good luck with your sports, but be a little kind to yourself while you dont feel so good.there is a bit of a "fitness"cult at the moment, and nobody seems to ask"fit for what?" sport should be playful, especially when you are young.keep us up to date .it isnt good to raise concern in people and then just disappear,as so many on this forum do.

However, the following features occur in most cases.1. Diarrhoea - sometimes, but not always, with blood. 2. Abdominal pain and tenderness over the intestine, often more severe in the right iliac fossa. 3. Weight loss, and in children failure to grow. 4. Fever. 5. Tiredness. 6. Sores and abscesses around the anus, which have a discharge. These may be the first signs of the disease in some patients. 7. Other symptoms not involving the intestine may occur:I. Sore mouth due to ulcers on the tongue or inside the cheek II. Painful, inflamed eyes (uveitis) III. Painful, stiff or swollen joints, e.g. arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis IV. • Chrones???Are you finding that you are getting any larger ; Growing? If your stomach area grows to fast sometimes your intestines will enlarge or you could get mega colon for no reason also which will increase the gas passing and your food will move through you too fast due to such a large colon / intestines. Not a lot known about it but I agree that if they don't know what it is they say IBS and there is no such thing because they can't tell you what it really is caused by. Also the diet. Weat intolorance is a biggy. Good Luck. Have you tried over the counter natural drinks from a health store for diarehha? I would check though with your gastro. first. Also, DRINK PEDEOLITE (spelling) It will hydrate you from all the bowl movements and give you some strength if you are dehydrating.
