My 23 year old daughter just got back from vacation in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia KL, also went to the rain forrest in Malaysia. Hr last day in the rainforest she started having stomach trouble, diarrhea a couple of times - she didn't think much of it because she has colitis. Got increasingly worse and began running a fever. She came back to Texas and was still sick, no fever anymore for past 3 days. She had diarrhea at least 25 - 30 X a day, took her to the emergency room, they put in an IV and 3 different antibotics that were used to treat several different things so they figured that would help. We've been home 24 hours she is still having diarrhea at least 7-8 X maybe more that she hasn't told me about in an 10 hour time frame this morning she woke me she tried eating a popsicle and threw up 4 times took a pill for nausea that the emergency room gave us and threw that up immediatly. Please does someone know what could be wrong. Debbie

  • STAT, get a prescription for a rectal suppository for Compazine or something like that. Your daughter can become extremely dehydrated and and get into serious cardiac problems. The vomiting must stop. Give her Gator-Ade as soon as she can take liquids. Pull the skin on top of her hand up. If it tents and doesn't return to normal, she is dehydrated. She needs an infectious disease specialist or a G.I. doctor. Call her primary doctor NOW (If at night, the person "on call" can call a script into a 24 hour pharmacy).

  • Man, there is a lot of this going around right now. My heart goes out to her, and you. I've heard Pediatyte actually hydrates better than Gatorade if she can stand the taste. Tastes like watered down cough syrup. I tried it when my daughter wouldn't drink it.
