When I was pregnant with my 2 1/2 year old daughter, the doctors discovered she had a choledochal cyst. For the most part she has been extremely healthy. The doctors recommend that she have ultrasounds done every 6 months. The last one we had showed that the cyst was not getting any larger. However, my daughter has problems with bowel movements. Is this a problem that occurs with this type of cyst? I was only ever warned of there being a problem if her bowels were white. I am worried about her, she passes a bowel movement every 7 - 9 days. And when she is finally able to pass one, it is very large and painful.:( If anyone has any knowledge of the choledochal cyst or if this is a sympton I would love to hear from you.

  • when i was about 7 1/2 months pregnant i was starting to feel extremely sick. i had horrible pains in my stomach and in my right side. i could not keep any food down and i had bad back problems. the doctors found out i had a choledochal cyst that was also getting in the way of my daughter from growing. i had an induced labor and was immediatly opperated on. they said that it shouldnt come back and that it was commonly found in asian females. from what i understand its also caused by genetics so my daughter and i both have to continuously go to the doctors for MRI's and CAT scans every year. after the cyst was removed it took a while for a bowel movement but after about 2 weeks or so i was back on schedule...!!
