Ok so I start to get horrible hand pains (mostly right hand) starting in the afternoon. Here are a few symptoms:

FREEZING ICE COLD HANDS
Fingers most
Joint pain
Tingles
Numb
tense
Pain on ball of palm
Pinkey and ring finger tips numb a lot, and right side of hand.
Aches
Cold cold cold hands!

I was thinking about getting some gloves that help circulation and heat. I am on the computer a lot, play guitar, do homework, and play videogames a lot. I am a 22 year old male in College, I live in Utah and it's pretty warm right now. I have been doing hand exercises which a yoga instructor taught me and also using Tiger Balm. Nothing works! Please help out :) :)

Thank you much.

Do your fingers/hands ever become blanched (whitish) when feeling cold? Do you ever experience similar sensations in your toes, earlobes, or nose?Would also be interested in your Neurontin usage. For seizure disorder, I assume? Are you taking 3500mg in ONE daily dose? Adderall 90 mg...also in ONE daily dose? To treat ADHD or narcolepsy?Regards,John

  • Thank you John. Raynaud's Disease looks like it matches my symptoms, The discoloration is not very extreme though, but it seems to all add up. And my toes also are just as cold but not as painfull. The Neurontin is a mood stabilizer for depression, and helps with some side effects of adderall. Adderall is for ADHD, ive been on it for over 12 years. I have noticed it has made my hands chili sometimes, but never this cold and painfull.Does this info help?

Do you take both just once daily? Also, do you have regularly scheduled labs re: CBC, blood chemistry, hepatic and renal panels, serum gabapentin level? Have you had an EKG in the past re: cardiac screening with high dose stimulant therapy?Regards,John

  • Hello,I take 45mg 2x daily adderall. And the neurontin 3500 mg split up, 3 times daily. I have been working with my doctor for a few years now. And to all this :"CBC, blood chemistry, hepatic and renal panels, serum gabapentin level? Have you had an EKG in the past re: cardiac screening with high dose stimulant therapy?" No heh :)Does this help?

They are numb right now, and out of all the fingers, they are numb the most. And here is a little info I kept track of, probably too much hehe:----------------------03/11 nightRight side of hand tingles, hurts and feels tense. pain shooting up arm to elbow.03/12noon-nightRight side of pinkey numb, tip most, then hands got cold and started to hurt. later at night pinkey got numb again and writst started to hurt at the bottom right palm.03/13 noon, started homeworkfirst right ring finger and pinkey hurt then whole right side of hand hurt, between ring and pinkey by the joint down to the ball of the palm. then all 4 fingers. then hands got cold and both hands started to hurt and get achey, body felt achey all over then. whenever pressure put on ball of palm it started to hurt.03/18 midnight, PC.Right side of hand numb, tingly, and wrist also, especially ball of palm. Ball of wrist/palm hurts and pinkey/whole right side of hand gets numb/cold every time I am on the computer or writing for more than 30 mins. fingers get very achey at least once a day, also palm and wrist, but not as much as fingers. noon - PINKEY geting tingly and numb. Pinkey freezing! (Right)Major pain comes for a week or two then leaves for a weekish.25% of the time problem happens on left hand.------------------------Sorry if im getting annoying

  • Wow you are on quite a cocktail of major meds! Adderall, Neurontin, and Seroquel can all cause one sided pain, numbness and weakness as side effects. Please tell me what medications you started with and for what reason. Can you think back and post what med you started with, and when? This is important. How old are you? Best wishesDOM

  • I agree with JonMac that this sounds like Reynaud's. I would also like to suggest, because of the location of the numbness and tingling, you check out Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. TOS is commonly caused by an abnormal tightness or hypertrophy of the scalene muscles in your neck which then in turn 'clamp down' on your brachial plexus. A lot of time spent on a computer, injury to the neck, or poor posture can all contribute to this disorder. Good news is there is help available for both. With the Reynaud's, avoidance of cold and sometimes heating measures can help. With TOS, massage therapy is a great way to fix it, along with postural changes. Taking vitamin D and a magnesium supplement can help with both of these conditions. One more thing.....Seroquil is a pretty stout drug. If the only reason you are taking it is sleep (I can relate!), you might consider switching to another medication like Ambien or Trazadone. If you need it for mood issues, so be it, but poor sleep can be treated with lesser drugs in most cases. Also, for sleep issues and mood issues, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is proven to work in many patients. You might check it out if you have not already done so.

  • Ok sorry, I thought this might be a problem not relating to the hands. My hands are usually the first to hurt, but a lot of the days my whole body starts to ache pretty bad, Tylonol does nothing whatsoever. My chest starts to ache, my arms, hands of course, and my back, come to think of it, my whole body hurts.. I know it says on one of my side effects that if i start to get real achey over a couple weeks I should contact a doctor. its getting pretty bad, worse. So why does it want me to contact my doctor? would it just be so he could change it for my convienience, i dont want to change it, neurontin, or could it be slowly be causing damage to something? Thank u for alll ur help.
