  • i remember reading about this, its a disease where the body doesnt make energy properly, it uses suger and something els to make a different type of enegery then normal people make. theres a diet for it, and if your child follows this diet all their life they will be fine. i dont remember what its called, but it can casue PERMANENT brain damage. so its very important that you tell your doctors about this. it gets very bad at age 2, but since birth you will see symptoms. at age 2+ it really takes effect and every year without it being diagnosed is another year of brain damage. TELL YOUR DOCTORS ASAP. search google for the name ect, i also read that the brain will release a certain chemical to help give energy, but with this disease, the brain releases dangerous amounts of that chemical. im so sorry i cant remember anything about this, ill try really hard to remember please tell your doctors ASAP it is VERY important. there are certain tests for it, but i dont think they will know what the disease is called because it is VERY rare. again i will try to remember.

  • Yes, this could definitely be a "family thing." You should tell your doctor about your aunts & uncles and ask to see a geneticist (gene doctor).
