Hi I am a 33 yr old woman. Almost 5 years ago, i was diagnosed with skin cancer. The day after my doctor did my biopsy, i started getting severe headaches, with severe dizzy spells. They took out the skin cancer, and we hoped the headaches and dizziness would stop. it just got worse, they thought it was migraines. In the last 4 and a half years, I have been on over 20 different migraine medicines. Nothing has worked, the medicines work the first week or so, then my body gets used to it, and stops helping. They have done numerous MRIs, CTs, they even done all kinds of tests on my heart, everywhere you can think of. They sent me to a ENT he couldn't figure it out either. Finally my neurologist told me he was done, it's all in my head and told me to go see a physiatrist. Last year, I started falling down, we thought they were seizures, but i didn't pass out. My kids would have to help me up off the floor. I wouldn't be able to move for at least 20 minutes. It's still happening, I have missed a lot of work, my kids have had to take care of things around the house alot. My left hand goes numb, I get severe chest pains. We thought it might be a heart attack the first time it happened, but not that either. I am a medical nightmare, and no one has been able to figure out what it is. I am seeing a physiatrist, I know that's spelled wrong. Sorry! He has me on 800 mg. of Tegretol right now, but that doesn't stop the falling spells, the dizziness the headaches. I also feel like I'm at the bottom of the well. My blood sugar is normal, all my blood tests come back normal, I am overweight. If anybody can help me, Please let me know.

  • Hi, Your story sounds alot like mine, with out the skin cancer. At first it was thought I had MS, because of the weakness. All tests were normal, for me too. So I was told it was Fibro. I got a tick bite last june and made the rheummy test me for Lyme, with the western blot test. The results was a high positive, more than some one who had just been bitten. After 7 yrs of useless meds, I stopped them. I was treated with abx for 4 months and feel much better than I have in abt 10-15 yrs. There is no cure, but at least you will not be so frightened, of the unknown. Part of the Dx is clinical.Knowledge is power, there are symptom lists and much more , Go here lymenet.org and maybe find your answers. Hope you feel better soon.~~Dee

  • What happens when you fall down? Is it because you lose your balance or is it because you feel very weak? Do you feel nauseous at the same time? When you say you can't move, do you really mean that (i.e. do you feel paralysed)? Or is it that you can move but feel too weak to get up? I don't think the skin cancer is likely to be related, other than discovering it was presumably a traumatic event for you. Chronic fatigue and related conditions have been associated with traumatic events in some cases (although not all of them). That said, the jury is still out on what causes them. Do you feel excessively tired and are you sleeping well. "All in your head" says more about the physician than the patient. Tegretol is a drug for epilepsy, so what is the explanation for you being prescribed it? I would want to know if I were you.
